At the moment we're about to start de editing process, making sure every little bit is perfectly in space, so we can advance to bass and guitar tracking. Thus this post is to let everyone get more depth about what we've done.
This time João used his own Premier drumkit. We don't remember which model is, but it was bought back in 1991.
Kick 22" with a Evans EMAD Onyx Black drumhead and used a Electo Voice PL33 and a homemade subkick mic
Snare 14" Pearl Export with a Evans drumhead with a vintage AKG 330 (we tried the "normal" SM57, and this AKG one sounded much better)
Toms 10" 12" and 16" with Remo Emperor white coated , doubleply drumheads, and Audio Technica ATM 350 on Toms 1 and 2 and AKG D112 on the floor tom
Cymbals: Zildjian 14" K-serie, Paiste Heavy Bell 20" ride, Paiste 6" splash, Meinl 10" splash, 12" china splash, 14" crash, 16" crash and 18" china
We used a stereo pair of Audio Technica AT4041 for overhead, a Neumann KM184 for the hi-hat and a Electro Voice PL37 for the ride.
All processed through M-Audio profire with Octane preamps.

In Tha Umbra in Studio!!!

Hello!!! So, today, Saturday 23rd October 2010 we started tracking the drums for our next release. Of course all this process started earlier, after finishing the new songs, pre-production, building the metronome, and last week recording the guiding guitar lines. Last two days were spent getting new drumheads, tuning the drums, trying different microphones until the desired sound was reached. Things started smoothly, and soon we'll have some video reports available. Also we're using my (Bkd.) homemade sub-kick microphone and it's sounding great!!!
